Punta Lara – By The Bay is a three-story residential community in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego. Designed to pay homage to the area’s seafaring history, it offers six open-concept floor plans with sophisticated finishes and breathtaking views of Downtown, the Bay, and Coronado.

Level 3 Construction was awarded the contract for this ground-up Type V over 1 construction project in 2021 and began demolition that winter. We worked with Stephen Dalton Architects to build out the community and ensure both the exterior features and interior finishes were executed masterfully. Punta Lara – By The Bay’s ground-level units offer convenient street access from individual walk-up patios, while the upper-floor units are organized around a beautifully landscaped common courtyard.

In his article about Punta Lara – By The Bay, San Diego Business Journal Reporter Ray Huard noted that its curving white cement plaster walls are meant to evoke the ocean surf while the intricate lattice work resembles the rigging on a sailing ship. An architectural gem, the addition of linear balconies and use of warm Ipe wood siding creates an alternating pattern that breaks down the building to a scale appropriate for the surrounding single-family neighborhood.
